experiences and made the story impactful. While I wouldn't have bought it if it weren't for a class, it lead to good discussions and insightful realizations. If you are into audiobooks, I recommend going that route with this story. Sarah Gerard reads it herself which may help the reader/listener discern between thoughts and statements and clarify tone.

Overall, this was a fantastic read and I 101% recommend it. I think it would make an excellent interdisciplinary lesson for secondary educators as they could study the racial aspects of the book in English and research the culture and history behind it in Social Studies.

Both families enjoy their lives and are successful, but in very different ways. Celeste Ng presents a challenging topic skillfully and her writing is excellent.
